Is laser hair removal permanent?
It’s a semi-permanent procedure since after the hair follicle has been destroyed, there is no way for new hair to start growing, but our skin is the largest organ in human body and it constantly grows and always finds ways to reactivate and regenerate the cells responsible for hair growth because it’s in the DNA!
One of biggest misconceptions about laser hair removal is to assume that once you completed your laser hair removal treatment it is 100% permanent and hair will never grow again. It will grow, but it will not be as thick or fast compared to your original hair because you have to account that the follicles are not as strong and healthy after being treated with laser
Do I need to continue maintenance treatment after my last laser hair removal treatment session?
It is always recommended to protect your investment. Laser hair removal is a very affordable procedure and it is generally very long lasting but it does require a small maintenance treatment once in a while. The maintenance treatment varies from individual to individual and strictly depends on the area treated, how coarse or fine the hair is, etc. it is best determined by your laser hair technician as they closely monitor your hair response after each treatment and can accurately predict and design a maintenance regimen for you.
Examples of some maintenance regimens include coming in for a treatment every 6 months, or maybe once a year. Nothing crazy like continuing to come in every 6 weeks for life!*
How many sessions does it take to treat one area?
On average, it takes about 4-6 sessions to treat one specific area. During the laser treatment, only the hair that is actively growing is being targeted, which accounts for 15-20 % of the hairs in a certain area. Hence, at the next treatment 4-6 weeks later, other hairs will be in the active phase too, and they will get treated.*
Does laser hair removal hurt?
With the latest technology and multiple comfort measures, this previously very painful procedure has been made a very comfortable and almost painless experience for most people. Not all people handle discomfort the same, discomfort level 1 for one person, may feel like a 7 for another and that’s why we have Dr.Avaliani, as she is able to offer various comforting measures during you treatment and oversee how they are administered by the laser technicians.
Is there downtime after Laser hair removal?
Absolutely no downtime. People can resume their regular activities immediately after the treatment, including going to the gym or taking a shower or going for a swim.
Are there any contraindications to receiving Laser hair removal treatment?
It is not recommended for:
- Pregnant women
- People with history or known skin cancer
- People getting radiation treatment to the treatment area
- If the area has any signs of infection or trauma in the treatment area
How will my skin look after laser hair removal?
The skin will look slightly flushed or reddish, the hair follicle may appear white and slightly raised, which is a sign of a great response to your treatment. This swelling may persist for a few hours to about 1-2 days. You may notice that some ingrown hairs will start coming to the surface and will simply be coming out by themselves with a simple gentle touch.

Why choose Laser hair removal vs waxing?
Laser hair removal is very different from waxing. Waxing simply pulls the hair from the hair follicle during removal process, while leaving a healthy hair root and another hair will start growing soon after.
Laser hair removal selectively destroys the hair, hair follicle and hair root, therefore simply not allowing another hair to grow as opposed to just prolonging the growth rate as in waxing.
Laser hair removal is also fairly painless compared to waxing and definitely relieves the
