All are great options and all come with their own benefits in terms of choosing between the number of treatments needed, the needed downtime and how long the results will last for.

Face Threads have been increasingly gaining popularity in US in the last few years. What is important to know is that these are brand new threads developed with an old and proven technology to avoid all kinds of complications which were seen with the old threads until the FDA put a ban on them in 2007.

Face threads are also known as thread lift or suture lift or lunchtime lift. They are marketed under different brand names such as NovaThreads, Sillhouette Lift or Contour Lift just to name a few.
Dr.Avaliani offers FDA approved NovaThreads to her clients since they entered the market in 2015 to achieve the most elegant and natural results possible.

What are NovaThreads?

These are sutures made out of absorbable material designed to lift, contour and volumize different areas of the face and body.

What are face threads made out of?
They are made from PDO (Polydioaxanone)- a completely safe and absorbable material which doesn’t create any scar tissue and is fully absorbed by the body in 4-6 months. This same material is safely used in cardiac surgery for many years now.

How do face threads work?

When inserted under skin, they tighten and volumize areas of the skin laxity. They can be referred to as suspension cables that never break, but rather hold the skin in place using their little “hooks”. The “hooks” provide supportive structure which combats signs of aging and gravity.
The threads have various designs to accommodate various skin issues like skin laxity, loss of volume or skin wrinkles. The combination of various designs is what gives great results. Some threads have just one entry point, while others have entry and exit points. Please see the illustration below

What is the point of this blog?

10 years ago surgery was the only option to tighten the skin on the face and neck, so women in their 40’s and 50’s went and got it, but what happens to their face 10 years later? Do you need another surgery? Do you qualify for it? Can your skin even handle two surgeries? The old face threads were permanent, not absorbable, caused scarring, infections and were prone to breaking. The new generation and new technology allowed rebirth of a phenomenal product to give great results without any risks or complications, just great results.
